VES team delivers Homeland Security Video Surveillance assessment

survprojectRR

The VES Team has delivered to the City of River Rouge a city-wide video security system to enhance the ability for the Police and Fire Department in responding to emergency situations. This system shall also be made availible to Federal Agencies via their local Fusion Center should they become aware of threats or when emergency situations warrant escalation.

This system shall connect cameras used to monitor the Detroit and Rouge Rivers, railways, main traffic intersections, school property, industrial traffic, parks and other areas where events are likely to occur. All cameras will be connected to video recorders located at city hall. The police and fire departments will have viewing stations with access to these cameras.

The city has applied for funding from the Department of Homeland Security under the FY2011 Port Security Grant Program. The goal of this program is to aid in securing our international waterways. The grant would pay for cameras along the waterway and the infrastructure to support them.
